It originally launched with 9 low resolution games in 2 cartridges. The most heavily invested games by Atari were Pac-Man and E.T. the ExtraTerrestrial. About 30 million units of Atari 2600 were sold in its lifetime. Atari 2600 was discontinued in 1992.
