Medical Center

Nkuke Village in Masaka District, Uganda, relies on subsistence farming but faces severe healthcare challenges due to inadequate facilities, low health worker wages, and supply shortages. The Tebajjukira Medical Centre seeks to bridge this gap by offering comprehensive care, support, and education. Honoring traditional midwives like Josephine Tebajjukira, the center will blend modern healthcare with ancestral wisdom to improve maternal and child health while addressing broader medical needs.

The center will provide outpatient care, HIV/AIDS management, reproductive health, pediatrics, maternity, surgery, and dental services. A mobile clinic will extend essential care, including check-ups, immunizations, and maternal health, to underserved communities. Focused on prevention and education, this initiative ensures accessible, affordable healthcare for vulnerable groups, aligning with THEN’s mission.

Sweater knitting

Sweater knitting training in Uganda plays a significant role in empowering individuals, particularly women and youth, by equipping them with practical skills that can generate income and improve their livelihoods. Knitting is not only a craft but also a viable business opportunity, especially in regions where handmade sweaters are in demand for school uniforms and local markets. Training programs teach participants techniques in design, pattern creation, and the use of knitting machines, alongside business and marketing skills to help them establish or expand their ventures. By promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship, sweater knitting training contributes to reducing unemployment, enhancing household incomes, and fostering creativity, all while preserving traditional crafts and meeting local needs.

Cosmetology

Cosmetics and beauty training, particularly in hair braiding, is a growing sector in Uganda, empowering many individuals, especially women and youth, with marketable skills. Hair braiding is deeply rooted in Ugandan culture, not only as a form of personal expression but also as a thriving business opportunity. Training programs in this field equip participants with techniques in traditional and modern braiding styles, hygiene practices, customer service, and entrepreneurship. These skills open doors to financial independence, allowing trainees to establish their own businesses or gain employment in salons and beauty parlors. In a country where unemployment remains a challenge, such training initiatives contribute significantly to socio-economic development, providing sustainable livelihoods and boosting the confidence and creativity of those involved.

Mobile Clinic

The clinic offers essential medical care, including general health check-ups, maternal and child health services, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses. The outreach initiative aimed at providing accessible and quality healthcare services to underserved and remote communities. With a focus on addressing the healthcare gaps in Nkuke, the mobile clinic also emphasizes health education, preventive care, and awareness campaigns to improve community well-being. This service ensures that vulnerable populations, particularly children, women, and the elderly, receive the care they need without the barriers of distance or high costs, aligning with THEN’s mission to deliver compassionate and inclusive healthcare.
